The Whore of Babylon

Could San Francisco be the infamous city of Revelation?

March 1946 somewhere out in the desert near Death Valley, two men and a woman attempted to invoke an ancient demon and conceive the anti-Christ.

Did it work?

Jack Parsons was one of the scientific minds behind the Jet Propulsion Laboritory at CalTech, which later spawned NASA, but he was also a devout occultist and student of the infamous Aleister Crowley. His friend, L. Ron Hubbard, was a science-fiction writer who later went on to establish the religion of Scientology which teaches that humans and aliens co-exist. Marjorie Cameron was an artist and poet in the beat movement who was supposedly going to be possessed by the goddess “Babalon” and carry a baby once their sex-magic rituals were successful.

She never did conceive, but somehow Parsons believed that the rituals worked.

Later on, Marjorie herself would come to believe the same. Constantly tormented by auditory hallucinations, suicide-ideation and visions of an asteroid wiping out the world, Cameron’s art reflected her mental state and drug use. The best example of this is a short film she did called The Wormwood Star.

For students of eschatology, or end-times prophesies, we all know the story of the Whore of Babylon foretold in Revelation 17 & 18. It is a great city of wealth and power which sits on seven mountains, controls commerce, is excessively rich, full of abominations, drunk on the blood of the faithful to God, and is the revived Roman Empire.

Albrecht Dürer – The Whore of Babylon (British Museum)

The account of the Apostle John was written in the first century AD during the zenith of the Roman Empire. John is given a vision of the end times and an angelic guide who shows him how it will unfold…

So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,

THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS

AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS

OF THE EARTH.

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. Revelation 17:3-6 (NKJV)

The imagery of the beast is decoded by the book of Daniel, which describes different beasts and horns throughout the prophesy. In Daniel’s visions, the angel Gabriel translates the beasts as empires and the horns as kings, or smaller provinces within an empire.  Previously in Revelation 13 we are introduced to the beast without the whore riding it and the description is a chimera of the four beasts of Daniel: the lion of Babylon, the bear of Persia, and the Leopard of Greece.

We can see from the text that the beast we’re dealing with has seven heads and ten horns, but what does that mean exactly? Luckily, John has an angel guiding him through the vision…

“Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.” Revelation 17:9-11 (NKJV)

Since the vision is reminiscent of Daniel’s beasts predicting the empires who engage with Jerusalem at different times, we can assume the same is happening here. At the time John was writing, Rome was the head in existence so five empires must have fallen before that. If we look at biblical history, the first empire to deal with Israel was Egypt, then the Assyrians, then Babylon, Medo-Persia, and lastly Greece came through under Alexander the Great before Rome took over. After the Jewish people were sent into exile by the Romans, they could no longer occupy the Holy Land and in the interim it was part of the Ottoman Empire which took over the eastern half of the Roman empire and ruled from Istanbul, which was previously called Constantinople. The Ottoman empire fell after World War 1 and the different territories were split into the countries we see today such as Turkey, Iran, Egypt and Greece. The Jewish people were finally allowed to return to Israel after the atrocities of World War 2, which suitably shamed the world into helping them reclaim it.

So, since biblical times until now, seven empires have been involved with either Jerusalem or the Jewish people as a nation. Many assumed that Nazi Germany would be the final anti-Christ, however it wasn’t the right time because the Jewish people did not possess Jerusalem and they still don’t have a third temple built yet; all essential elements of Daniel’s prophesy. Now that they are back in the land, it’s only a matter of time before a temple is built, and once the daily sacrifices begin, the “son of perdition”, as the anti-Christ is also known, will stop the offerings and blaspheme the temple by declaring himself to be god.

This eighth empire was one of the seven, which means that there could be a resurgence of Babylon, which is currently Iraq, but that seems unlikely. Iran used to be Persia and they keep trying to get nuclear arms, so that’s a possible empire resurgence. However, the book of Daniel quashes all of these ideas when the angel says; “the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.” This is alluding to the time period after the Messiah comes and is cut off when the Jewish people reject Him. Since the Roman Empire was the group of people who crucified Jesus and destroyed the city in 70AD, and they did it during the time when it was ruled from Rome rather than from Constantinople, we can make an educated guess that there will be some sort of resurrected Roman Empire.

So we know who the heads are, but who are the horns? The angel continues explaining…

“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.” Revelation 17:12-13 (NKJV)

Ten kings without kingdoms? What sort of king doesn’t have a kingdom?

To my mind, there are people today who neatly fit this description in the form of technocrats and business moguls. They don’t have territory on a map to speak of, nor do they hold a political office, and yet they exert considerable economic pressure and they control the cyber landscape of information to the extent that they have more power than a President, as evidenced by Twitter de-platforming Trump.

The angel goes on to explain that the kings will be waging war on Christianity and then describes the identity of the whore of Babylon;

Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 17:15-18 (NKJV)

How many major cities are built on seven hills?

Quite a few actually! Rome is an obvious choice, but by no means the only contender. Jerusalem is based on seven hills, but since that city is the object of attack in the prophesy, its not the likely culprit. Istanbul in modern-day Turkey sits on seven hills, which would fulfil the prophesy from the point of view of a Byzantine empire, as it was the last phase of Rome before total collapse. Washington DC is also on the list, plus it contains a hot-bed of occult symbolism and masonic roots which we don’t have time to explore here.

What about the seven hills of San Francisco? Could it be a great city which reigns over the kings of the earth… how is it possible to consolidate so much power in this day and age? Relatively simple if you control the media, flow of information, socio-political virtual landscape, create a one-world economy and all transactions are electronic. Perhaps, in the wake of a pandemic, physical marketplaces and cash transactions will be abolished? That’s the dream of Facebook and Amazon, both based on the US west coast.

Not only does it tick the box of a powerful world-ruling city on seven hills, the description of the multitudes of peoples, nations and tongues which the whore sits on top of could symbolise the World Wide Web.

There is a lot going on around San Francisco. UC Berkeley currently houses anti-matter on behalf of CERN, Silicon Valley is the home of all the tech giants including Microsoft, Google, Tesla and Facebook. Twitter is right in the middle of San Fran itself.

Wealthy, but Morally Bankrupt

The vision describes the city as excessively rich but also completely morally bankrupt and drinking in the abominations to God. The San Francisco Bay Area has the highest GDP per capita in the USA (according to the 2018 US Bureau of Economic Analysis). As for following God, the Pew Research Centre’s latest numbers are 35% with no religious affiliation, which is more than one-third of the population.

This is hardly surprising as San Francisco has both a reputation for sexual liberation and the highest percentage of LGBT identity in the US, something you won’t find applauded in the bible. Sexual liberty often has consequences, but in a recent UC San Francisco study, 95% of mothers who had opted to kill their babies before they could be born were happy with their decision 5 years afterwards.

As a state, California has performed more than half a million abortions in the last 10 years and back in 1982 an LA doctor was found with a shipping container of 16,000 preserved foetus’ in his yard. Los Angeles is also the home of the entertainment industry, continuously steeped in occult symbolism, and used to be the capitol of the porn industry before the internet explosion. According to the CDC (2018) Los Angeles has the highest rates of sexually transmitted infections in the US and San Diego and San Francisco rate at 10th and 11th in the country respectively.

Back in 2010, drug use in San Francisco was the highest in the country with 21.9% of the population over the age of 12 having use illicit drugs within a year. The California average at the time was 16.8% and the national average was 14.7% which are significantly lower. Since then, the problem has grown with overdose deaths accounting for more than three times the toll of the virus during the 2020 lockdown. But at least Nancy Pelosi’s hair looks nice.

San Francisco’s history is even more applicable to the character of Babylon in Revelation if you look at its past 100 years as well. In the 20th century it spawned the hippie movement and hosted the 1967 Summer of Love, which was supposed to be a protest against war, but was possibly an excuse to get high and have sex. It was an era of drug experimentation, particularly LSD which produced hallucinogenic “trips” to another realm. In 1963 Pat Maginnis established the Society for Humane Abortion to push for relaxation of the laws around killing the unborn.

Let’s not forget that just a short drive north of San Francisco is the site of Bohemian Grove at Monte Rio. This place has been frequented by political and business leaders for at least the last 100 years to take part in an offering ritual called The Cremation of Care to an owl god statue. It’s supposed to be a mock human-sacrifice, but since no one is allowed to divulge what happens at this place, there might be something more sinister going on. Regardless of whether the sacrifice is real or not, the bipartisan discussions about how to run the world are very real. This is a place where decisions are made and deals struck to the mutual benefit of both sides of the aisle.

Mark of the Beast

Bill Gates, the head of Microsoft, is currently forging ahead with a vaccine to cure the world and also track who has it through a technology developed at Rice University called quantum-dot tattoos which are microneedle pads applied to the skin to deliver the vaccine by absorption, but they leave a small temporary tattoo which can be read by a smartphone for about 5 years afterwards. Some are speculating that this is the perfect delivery method for a gene-altering mark of the beast, as referenced in Revelation 13:16-17 (NKJV);

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Tesla is one to watch on this subject in the wake of Elon Musk developing Neuralink; his transhumanist implant to directly stream the internet into your brain. Considering how quickly and easily we adopted the smartphone, as absurd as implant technology currently sounds, it may become the only way of doing things in the near-future.

Even now there are people opting for an RFID implant in their hand which replaces their wallet, phone and keys for outstanding convenience. Facial recognition software is also advanced enough to facilitate the Chinese social-credit system where citizens can be, and currently are, penalised for being religious or not overtly supportive enough of the government.

Why gene-altering? This refers to a statement Jesus made in Matthew 24:37 about the last days being just like the days of Noah. If you go back to Genesis 6:1-2 & 4-5 (NKJV) it outlines those times;

Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God [angels] saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose…

There were giants [Nephilim] on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came into the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Continually evil. Sounds like most people on the internet.

This particular part of the bible is expanded upon in some of the Dead Sea Scrolls known as the Books of Enoch and particularly one called the Book of the Watchers. This is an area of study you need to be careful with, as it is not part of the scripture of God and has to be held at arm’s length when reading. However, as an apocryphal account, it can shed light onto what Genesis is talking about when it says that angels mated with human women and produced monstrous hybrids which precipitated the flood event to wipe them out.

A great resource for further study is the book by Dr Michael Heiser aptly named Demons where he delves into the text as a qualified language expert. In a nutshell, there was an angelic rebellion against God where some angels attempted to play god by creating their own unsanctioned children who turned into cannibalistic abominations of massive size and a complete lack of conscience or soul. They were utterly evil and irredeemable, plus they were annihilating the humans. When these hybrids die, they cannot ascend so they become the demons we’re familiar with, constantly in search of a physical host to inhabit.

What some researchers have proposed about the end-times, in view of this context, is that we may see humans hybridised with other species, either animal or “alien” which is one of the forms we encounter fallen angels in. If alien abduction accounts are anything to go by, these entities are very interested in our bodies and continually probe their subjects. There’s also reports of people being shown hybrid children during alien visions, and other reports where an attack can be repelled by the name of Jesus. This theory, obviously, remains to be seen, but a number of quiet public disclosures in recent years is paving the way for people to accept the ideas of aliens.

Occultists like Marjorie Cameron and L. Ron Hubbard certainly believed in aliens, and apparently so does the Vatican. Pope Francis famously vowed to baptise Martians if they show up and as a Jesuit, he is very familiar with the Vatican’s research into the cosmos from places like Mt Graham in Arizona, smack-bang between the coastal abominations of Hollywood and the area where nuclear testing was conducted and the Roswell incident occurred. The Vatican shares this facility with the Max Planck Institute, who originally named their part of the equipment “Lucifer” for no particular reason.

Roman Empire at its Greatest Extent (Image: Canva)

Is San Francisco the New Rome?

At the height of empire in 117AD, Rome encompassed all of the countries which touched the Mediterranean Sea plus the British Isles in the Atlantic Ocean. Controlling most of western Europe, north Africa, and most of the Middle East was not easy to do, but the mechanical precision and sheer force of Roman military might got the job done with shocking efficiency. However, there was a limit to how long it could be maintained and in 285AD Emperor Diocletian divided the empire into two provinces; east and west. He ruled the eastern half himself, then appointed Maximian as Augustus of the west.

In 324 Constantine conquered both halves of the empire in a series of military campaigns then opted to rule from the eastern city of Byzantium, which he re-named Constantinople. He credited his victory with a conversion to Christianity and put persecution to an end for the faithful. In terms of his own beliefs, he had nothing to gain by conversion except for supernatural assistance from God, and letters he wrote throughout his life indicate he took God seriously. He was possibly more devout than some of the church elders at the time who had introduced anti-Semitic Arianism into the doctrine, which Constantine hoped to clear up with the Council of Nicaea.

Eventually the empire became exclusively Christian under Emperor Theodosius in 380AD when he outlawed paganism. The two halves of the empire were left to his sons but they didn’t have what it took to fend off aggressors both within and without. Some of the issues had to do with a blending of church and state, with Rome progressively appointing itself as the head church and attempting to dictate to the eastern churches, who did not acknowledge a hierarchy.

In a weakened state, the western empire suffered multiple attacks from Germanic tribes, while the east was dealing with the Huns and Arab tribes. Both sides still believed themselves to be the true ruler of the Roman Empire and refused to acknowledge the other as such. As the western half broke away to barbarian tribes with no assistance from the east anymore, the Frankish King, Pepin, freed the city of Rome from the Lombards in 756AD. He then appointed parts of the state to the Pope, effectively creating the political power of the Vatican.

The split between east and west was official, not just politically, but also ecumenically, forming the Eastern Orthodox and the Roman Catholic churches. The eastern half of the old Roman Empire became the Byzantine Empire.

Pope Leo III used the Vatican’s political power in 800AD to crown Charlemagne, the son of Pepin, the first Holy Roman Emperor. This was the official start of a new church-state of Europe where the papacy governed the kings. Charlemagne began the wars of the Crusades in the east, but his successors ultimately failed to reclaim the Holy Land, or conquer the Byzantine empire.

The most famous dynasty of the Holy Roman Empire was the Habsburg family. They were Austrian, but ruled Spain as well during the 16th and 17th centuries, making Spain part of the empire during that time.

The Holy Roman Empire was officially demolished by Napoleon in 1806 when he declared himself Emperor and imprisoned Pope Pius VI, who later died in exile. The Vatican was eventually re-instated as a political nation in 1929 by Mussolini.

The only question left is whether San Francisco is a direct descendent of the Roman Empire so let’s have a look at where it fits in history.

Firstly, the United States did not start out as one country, but is a collection of states derived from three different colonial European countries; England, France and Spain. The west coast of the US was actually part of Mexico until 1848 and before that it belonged to Spain. The bay area was mapped by the Spanish around 1542, but not settled until 1776 when the Roman Catholic Church set up a Franciscan mission at the site.

As we can see, this puts it firmly under the Holy Roman Empire from its inception.

In Conclusion

It still amazes me, even now, after all the times I have been breath-taken at how ingenious and brilliant the disguises of the adversary are… even now, I’m still gob-smacked at how subtly the most innocuous city in the world could be wielding the most power. Look at San Fran; it’s sunny, colourful, happy, prosperous, compassionate, liberal, creative… why would anyone guess it could be the capitol city of evil?

San Francisco is an epicentre along the west coast of the US for all the mindsets diametrically opposed to God; Portland and Seattle to the north are hot-beds of extreme civil and political violence and rebellion, while Los Angeles to the south is the capitol of sexual depravity, murder of the innocents, self-idolatry and New Age practices. They call good evil and they call evil good.

Right in the middle, poised on top of the San Andreas fault line, is the city of seven hills controlling the spider’s web of human interaction and culture.

Bear in mind, this is just a theory, but I haven’t seen a better proposal yet which fits the strange times we live in. after all, how does someone quash the gospel in the age of information? Strategically, its brilliant. Christians need to start catching up.

What do you think? Personally, I think we’re running out of time.

  2. There’s definitely an agenda to confuse, frighten and muddy the waters. Funnily enough, blasphemy is part of the prophecy of the end times. Both books of Thessalonians are great resources for understanding the end times prophecy, but 1 Timothy 4:1 encapsulates it perfectly: “now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons…”
The biggest sign of the end is rampant confusion in the church and people wandering away. That’s the real battle at hand; to rescue minds by combating bad ideas.
